For your convenience, we have collected a sample of the favorite activities our guests have experienced:
For the experienced – there are challenging downhill runs as well as a huge number of cross country skiing options. For the beginners – the nursery slopes and ski schools offer a fantastic way to learn new skills. For the delight of the young (and the old), the longest toboggan ride in Finland can be found right next to Kaunisvilla. The Saariselkä ski runs are not crowded – unlike those in many other winter resorts.
Snowmobile safaris: Alone or as part of a group, choose among hundreds of safari options available at Saariselkä. The safaris range from a one hour round the village ride to a 3 day / 2 night and 560km adventure ride to the Arctic Ocean! So, there is a lot to choose from!! - - - Lapland is, by far, the best snowmobile riding area in the world!
Husky safaris: Those not so fond of horsepowers can swap gasoline fumes and engine noise to the bark of eager sledge dogs and a pleasant slide through the snowy silence. For husky safaris there are tens of different alternatives as well.
Culture exploring: When your legs, arms, or just about your whole body tells you that today is a day for no sports of any kind, the area offers numerous options to experience local culture - either within a walking distance, or a maximum of 60 km distance by bus or car. How about learning about the Lapland gold rush, reindeer farming, or the indigenous Sami people? Or perhaps you feel like taking a dip in a frozen lake? Or a tropical spa?
And it should be remembered that all of this is available within one of the last great wilderness areas that exists in Europe. It can be truly quiet. You really can experience the sound of silence!
Lapland gives you the space to enjoy pure unspoilt nature.
